Fans of B movies rejoice! On tonight’s show, local mad scientist and Mutagen Nation host, DB Dornake joins Wes, in his new persona of fictional detective Dick Pinkerton, to reflect on the 1985 bad cinema gem that is ATTACK OF THE BEAST CREATURES.

ATTACK OF THE BEAST CREATURES tells the story of cruise ship survivors in the 1920s that land on a deserted island who are then hunted by a tribe of killer doll-like creatures. Dick (Wes) voices his many feelings for the film as DB adds his unique insight. We learn many things about acid pits, how doll sized creatures should be easy to kill, and not hitting on girls whittling a stick.

Actor, writter and director of The Fifth Hollar, Jan Lewis, joins Wes this week to talk about her series and what pushed her to take her once book idea and turn it into a TV series.

Along with Jan and Wes, actors Tim and James join in to talk about their time working with Jan on the Fifth Hollar and how the current pandemic has affected acting and travel. Jan has a long history with Scarefest and she and Wes also talk alittle about that history.

Every once and awhile it’s nice to sit down with friends and have a chat. This week Wes does exactly that with Joe Lewis from Bonehead Weekly and Scarefest celebrity Q&A host.

Have you ever wondered what fingers are Joe and Wes’ favorite? Well wonder no more because Wes and Joe answer that exact question as well as talk about their love for comic books and comic book movies. If you’re bored with TV and need some new things to watch, they’ve got you covered as they talk about binge worthy TV and what movies they consider their ‘comfort food’.

Kentucky boy and film maker, John C. Gritton joins Wes with cohost Chad this week. John is a Scarefest regular and you may have seen him walking around as a Ghostbuster with the Western Kentucky Ghostbusters. You may have also heard one of his seminars about the Golden age of slasher films.
Being a Kentucky boy moving to L.A. is a huge transition and John talks to us about what that looked like for him, what celebrities he worked next too and why he ultimately decided to come back to Kentucky. Being a film maker, John has a unique view on movies and he and Wes talk about the difference between practical and CGI effects and which they each prefer. This episode offers a lot for the budding film maker and the horror fan so you won’t want to miss it.

 

Mick Strawn SF13 E34

The talented Mick Strawn joins Wes along with co-host CCAnn this week on Scarefest television. Mick is known for his production design and art work on some of horrors best known movies.

Mick graciously shares stories about his time working on movies such as Boogy Nights and Mortal Combat and shares tips snd tricks of the trade including why blow-up dolls are important. With the state the world is in and all that time spent at home, we also get to hear what Mick is watching these days. Mick also has his podcast, Dream Warrior and his book Behind the Screams, both of which he gives us a taste of.

At the end of the show, the short film,, The Edge of Darkness by Miles Bellar is shown and Mick gives his critiques and shares tips on what film makers can do to help their projects.
