John & Stacey Edwards Weirdness in Review SF 2021 E40
We ring in the New Year as Wes welcomes John and Stacey Edwards for their annual review of all of the oddities and unusual events the world enjoyed in 2021. We’d be hard pressed to find a better way to kick off 2022.
John and Stacey share a collection of the best offbeat, and sometimes disturbing, stories such as the US government officially acknowledging the existence of UFOs, the discovery of a lost city in Egypt, and an exorcism in a Home Deposit. If you can’t get enough of John and Stacey, be sure to check out their podcast at paranormalsideshow.com
Also, don’t miss a big guest announcement or Joe Lewis’ review of the SAW spinoff movie, SPIRAL: FROM THE BOOK OF SAW, to learn a little about “smell the fart” acting.
Letters to Really Bad Santa SF 2021 E39
Chad Harlan headlines the show tonight as he has a long face to face with everyone’s favorite holiday hooligan, Really Bad Santa. Just a hint…he truly fits the name, no question about that.
Chad and Really Bad Santa discuss wish lists, Santa’s toy creation limits (it’s pretty low tech in the North Pole), travel concerns due to Covid, what his reindeers’ names REALLY are, and even read a few letters from listeners. We also learn that elves like to bite.
Not to be forgotten, Joe Lewis gives us his take on one of the worst movies he’s seen in a while, MONSTER HUNTER, starring Milla Jovovich.
Just Another BS Episode SF 2021 E38
No special guests. No agendas. This episode is as casual as it comes as Wes and Chad Harlan just shoot the breeze and catch up on what they have been doing in the off-season after a super successful Scarefest season.
Wes and Chad weigh in what shows and movies they’ve been watching (it’s a LOT of Marvel properties) as well as take recommendations from the chatroom. Wes gives us a sneak peek on the inner workings of booking protocols and musical guests. Plus, we ask if people still watch horror movies anymore.
In our regular features, Joe Lewis gives a heartfelt review of GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE. As a bonus Wes and Chad also give their thoughts on this nostalgia inducing film.
Shane Blythe SF 2021 E37
This week Wes welcomes Shane Blythe, the owner/operator of Blythe’s Paranormal Productions. Blythe’s Paranormal Productions is a media service outlet that provides videography support to paranormal investigation teams needing help documenting their explorations.
Wes and Shane delve into what constitutes an active location, how Blythe’s Paranormal Productions helps to share techniques within the paranormal community, EVP tips, and good camera positioning practices. Check out Shane’s Facebook (@blyhthesbids) and YouTube feeds for more information
Plus, we get our first celebrity announcement of 2022 and Joe Lewis gives us his review of the Netflix series MIDGNIGHT MASS, another creation of Mike Flanagan, the man behind THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE and DOCTOR SLEEP.
Alrik Bursell SF 2021 E36
This week on Scarefest TV, Wes and cohost Chad Harlen welcome filmmaker Alrik Bursell. You may recognize the name from last year’s filmfest as Alrik’s film The Alternate made it’s Scarfest debut. Nominated for ‘Best Kill’, The Alternate was a fan favorite and Alrik walks us through were the idea for the film came from and how the film draws inspiration from real life.
Alrik is one of the hardest working independent filmmakers around and that has led him to work some of the greats like Francis Ford Coppola. Alrik talks to us about where his love for filmmaking began and what projects he has in the works. His podcast, Making Movies is Hard, dives further into the world of independent filmmaking and explains why making movies is hard (see what we did there).
If you’re a filmmaker and want to hear firsthand what it’s like making a film or what it’s like getting your film into the film fest circuit, this is the episode for you. Plus be sure to stick around until the end as our resident Bonehead, Joe Lewis, reviews the latest in the Halloween saga.
Brandon Griffith and 2021 Scarefest Recap SF2021 E35
Was 2021 the best Scarefest in Scarefest history? We think so and co-owner Brandon Griffith sits down with Wes this week to give his recap of Scarefest 13. No matter how hard all the wonderful Staph are and how hard they work to bring the best Scarefest yet, things will inevitably have a few bumps in the road and this year was no exception BUT the energy and flow of things were as if a huge weight was lifted from the convention and it showed.
Post mistakes lead to future success and Brandon points out that Scarefest is still growing and will only get better from here. Scarefest 13 went so well that Brandon didn’t even get threatened to be kicked in the dick! Horror fans are much better than country fans (this was discovered the weekend of Scarefest 13) but more importantly they are loyal and Wes and Brandon both discuss their appreciation for the fans and the hard-working Staph that keep the wheels working.
