Stephanie Bingham SF 2022 E35

The cryptids are wild this week as Wes and Chad Harlan host medium and paranormal researcher Stephanie Bingham. Stephanie presented When Monsters Attack: Exploring the Strange History of Cryptids in Kentucky for our Scarefest convention goers and she has some wild stories to share.

Stephanie discusses a little bit of what she knows about cryptozoology, tells what drew her into the paranormal side of history, and shares her most surprising story. It’s a doozy. How can a show go wrong when your topics include the Pope Lick Monster and mermaids in the Ohio River valley, and asks the question of why there are so many stories tied to caves in Kentucky?

Plus, you’ll want to stick around for Joe Lewis’ insightful analysis of the 2022 remake of the horror classic HELLRAISER. Proceed with caution, this review just might tear your soul apart.

The Council Post Convention SF2022 E34

With Scarefest 14 in the rearview mirror, the tired but triumphant Council gather from their secret locations around the state to share their collective thoughts on this year’s Scarefest and all the great events tied to it.

The Council dishes out the details on the logistical nightmares that can arise during a convention, share a little inside information on how ticketing prices and packages are decided upon, and give a hearty thanks to all who came. Little known fact, many attendees had never previously been to a convention. Plus, there is a little bragging on the Robert England line building format.

And don’t forget to check out Joe Lewis’ review of the horror thriller BARBARIAN. It received great critical ratings but is it overrated? Odds are Joe has a little bit to say about that.

Robert Englund Line Building SF 2022 E33

That’s right, an entire episode dedicated to discussing the logistics for building a line to meet a horror legend. Wes and Adrienne break down everything, and we mean literally everything, that one needs to know when gearing up to meet the illustrious Freddy Krueger himself.

This episode has everything you need to know, which is essentially how to avoid a grueling day of standing in line all day, how to sign up for the line, and when to be there. Plus, Wes and Adrienne also cover the vast expanse of other events going on at Scarefest and even field a few questions straight from the chatroom.

Stick around for Joe Lewis’ review of Rob Zombie’s 2022 horror/comedy THE MUNSTERS. Does it live up to the old TV series? Check in with Joe to find out.

The Council SF 2022 E32

Tonight’s show is the last meeting of the great and mighty Council before Scarefest and it’s a jammed packed show for sure as Adrienne, Brandon, and Wes delve deep into the final behind-the-curtain peek before the actual convention kicks off.

And the Council pulls no punches (nor skip the opportunity to crack a few jokes) as they share a discussion of 3D movies, lay out details about the film festival, showcase a nifty raffle announcement, and turn the spotlight on all of the other incredible events happening at Scarefest. This episode is so crammed packed with content, they even had to forego commercials.

In our regular features, Joe Lewis gives us a fun filled retro review of the 1978 classic PIRANHA and its equally entertaining follow up films PIRANHA 3D and PIRANHA 3DD. Oh look, more talk about 3D movies!

Let’s Review the Schedule (with Co-Host John Kassir) SF 2022 E31

Episodes don’t get much more exciting than this! Tonight, Wes welcomes an extra special co-host, the one and only John Kassir, best known as the voice of the legendary Crypt Keeper. If that’s not enough, Wes isn’t even wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Inconceivable!

Wes and John not only chat about all of the great events happening at Scarefest, but they also discuss John’s extremely prolific voice acting career, the time he wore a muscle body suit, and Lexington’s annual Thriller parade. Any kid of the 90’s could sit and listen to that familiar voice all night long.

Lastly, make sure to give extra special thanks to Joe Lewis for this week’s movie review. Joe really took a bullet for his fans and watched the recent vampire superhero film MORBIUS. He’ll never be the same again.

Film Festival Preview SF 2022 E30

Grab the popcorn and some Milk Duds because this week Wes shares a heaping sneak preview of this year’s entries in the Scarefest Film Festival as well as offering a big tip of the hat to Meredith Blackwell for her many hours of dedicated previewing time. Trust us, this is a whopper of a show.

Wes covers a lot of ground, from films based on real urban legends to paranormal investigation and from 80’s retro vibe to foreign films. You can’t go wrong with such enticing titles as: HELL VAN, FALL OF CAMP BLOOD, SPAGHETTI FACE, and INHUMANO. Some are shorter than your average theatrical trailer but pack a lot of punch in that brief run time. Do you want to see trailers? There are loads of trailers. Enough said?

Plus, let’s not forget about Joe Lewis. This week he reviews ORPHAN: FIRST KILL, the prequel to 2009’s creepy psychological film ORPHAN.

The Council SF 2022 E29

The moon is right, and the stars tell us it’s time for another meeting of the minds. That’s right, tonight the warped and twisted minds of the Council have come together to bring us new information on the latest happenings in the Scarefest world.

Even though the mighty Council may still have a tad bit of PTSD due to a certain country singer, they have so much to share. There is an announcement of a cool bourbon event, more news about the Scream Queen bowling, and details about a sinister scavenger hunt. Plus, we get a little Nicole Griffith and learn that there is a connection between bourbon and bungholes.

In our regular features, Joe Lewis brings us a nostalgia filled review of the recent 3D conversion of the 1975 film classic JAWS.

Dave Schrader SF 2022 E28

Tonight, Wes and co-host Katie Followell have the pleasure of speaking with Dave Schrader, a long-time radio show host who often delves in the strange world of the paranormal and unusual. Dave has filled in on Coast-to-Coast AM as well as appearing numerous times on TV series like Ghost Adventures and Paranormal State.

Dave talks about where his career began, what led him to his interest in the paranormal, working on the TV series Ghosts of Devil’s Perch, and his busy podcasting schedule. He even shares a thrilling story about his most dangerous paranormal investigation. Plus, we mention winged hippos and divvy out a little bit of demon talk.

Also, we can’t forget Joe Lewis. He digs a little ways back and brings us a review of OUTLANDER, a 2008 scifi/action/horror film and poses the questions, where else will you see Jesus, Hellboy, and dragons all in one movie?

Patti Starr & Midas Cove SF 2022 E27

This week, Wes and co-host Chad Harlan welcome Patti Starr, paranormal investigator and original co-founder of Scarefest, Ben Hicks, and Brian Pitts to the show. Ben and Brian are the writer and director, respectively, of the upcoming horror/thriller series Midas Cove.

The gang discuss the inspirations behind Midas Cove, a tale of a grieving widower on the path to revenge that is set in rural Kentucky. Along the way we get a peek at the cast, talk about how the shooting locations were chosen, what outlets they would like to use for distribution, and the biggest challenges they faced making the series.

And a night wouldn’t be complete without a little Joe Lewis. This week, Joe offers his insight on the Netflix vampire hunter movie DAY SHIFT, starring Jamie Fox and Snoop Dogg.

Speaker Announcements Round 2 SF 2022 E26

We’re back for Round 2, baby! This week Wes and co-host Claire Heaney lay out another round of speaker announcements. Did you think they’d get all of these done in just one show?

Tonight’s announcements bring more familiar faces, like Beverly McChesney and production-designer Mick Strawn, as well as more new faces. Topics include a talk on soul retrieval, zombie makeup tips, and a dive into demonology. Plus, when the announcements are complete, we get a few handy tips on running a horror convention.

Stick around for Joe Lewis’s review of the new Predator movie, PREY. Fun fact: Mick Strawn has never seen the original PREDATOR.
