What is the AfterParty and The Patreon Project?

Scarefest Radio and TV have been enormously successful: both as a promotional tool for The Scarefest and as a creative outlet for myself. Unfortunately, there is only so much content I can cram into that hour once a week.

When I took on developing Scarefest Radio into a video show, I gave up my old podcast Paranormal Filler and put some other projects on hold. While the idea of doing a podcast as video was nothing new, most efforts (including my own) were nothing more than either studio cams or simple screen captures of the participants.

I wanted Scarefest TV to look different – to actually look professional compared to the competition. That came with a learning curve and increased my prep time. There was no time for other projects.

Now that the show is fully developed, I am revisiting some ideas. However, I have come to realize that I have certain needs such as food and clothing. Time spent on these projects is time not spent of other things. I needed a way to monetize the content. I saw others creating content under the subscription model, so I thought I would give it a try!

The Patreon Project was born

What does $5 a month get you?

First and foremost I am trying to keep a steady flow of AfterParties going. AfterParties are Zoom meetings where my subscribers can log in with or without video to get a more intimate experience with the celebrities I interview. I also had the opportunity to try some psychic galleries. These have to date been even more successful than the celebrity Meet & Greets.

Since The Scarefest is primarily a Horror Convention I’ve been purposefully steering it away from paranormal content. You can’t swing a stick without hitting a podcaster nowadays and the odds pretty good that podcaster has a paranormal podcast.

But since paranormal topics still hold both my heart and my interest, you can expect to see more of that content on the project than on Scarefest TV. So far I have revived my old podcast Paranormal Filler, Mystical TV (a video show I launched briefly in cooperation with The Mystical Fair) and added Chip Devine’s Spiritual Help and Inspirational Talk (a comedy interview show) and The Cybercon Series which will spotlight speakers, artists,  and vendors from The Scarefest.

All of those will be available as an audio podcast with the video presentation reserved for subscribers.

I expect to launch more members only content as the year progresses. The cost is $5 per month and you can quit anytime.
